EN The village of Alt-Marzahn lies on the outskirts of East-Berlin. Until a few years ago there were only fields and arableland there. Then came the bulldozers and cranes: inpre-fab fashion was erected the largest satellite-city in the GDR. The village is now surrounded by high-rise towers. 40.000 people have recently arrived together here. Religion was not supposed to play a roll in such a socialist modelcities. But it is spacially in such newly built districts in the GDR where christian congregations spring up nowadays. In new Alt-Marzahn lives and works the parson couple Zietz. The film observes their normal routine: at a gathering of the house-circle group in the apartment of a warehouse worker, at services in the old country church, at a bicycle outing with the young people‘s congregation and at a summer festival in the courtyard of the ancient farmhouse.

DE Eine evangelische Kirchengemeinde in der DDR 1983. Das Dorf Alt-Marzahn liegt am Stadtrand von Ost-Berlin. Bis vor wenigen Jahren war hier nur Wiese und Ackerland. Dann kamen die Bagger und Kräne. In Fertigbauweise entstand die größteTrabantenstadt der DDR. Das Dorf ist nun umgeben von Hochhausschluchten. 40.000 Menschen sind hier neu zusammen gekommen. Religion sollte in solchen sozialistischen Musterstädten eigentlich keine Rolle mehr spielen. Doch gerade in diesen Neubauvierteln der DDR wachsen heute wieder die christlichen Gemeinden. Im neuen Alt-Marzahn lebt und arbeitet das Pfarrerehepaar Zietz. Der Film beobachtet ihren Alltag: bei der Zusammenkunft einer Hauskreis-Gruppe, in der Privatwohnung eines Lagerarbeiters, beim Gottesdienst in der alten Dorfkirche, beim Fahrradausflug mit der jungen Gemeinde und bei einem Sommerfest im Hof des ehemaligen Bauernhauses.
